Accessibility Statement
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. If something blocks you, tell us and we'll fix it.

Our commitment
The Shakedown is working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We consider accessibility part of building the site, not a retrofit.
What we do
- Semantic HTML with a logical heading order and labelled landmark regions on every page.
- A “skip to main content” link as the first thing you reach by keyboard, so the header, search, and navigation rail can be bypassed.
- Alternative text on every content image. Guides cannot be published without it — the build rejects them.
- Keyboard operation throughout, with a visible focus indicator on every control. The menu panel keeps focus inside it while open, closes on Esc, and hands focus back to the button that opened it.
- Text contrast of at least 4.5:1 against its background in both the light and dark themes, which is the WCAG AA threshold for body copy.
- Link text that identifies its destination out of context — each “Buy” button names its product and says that it opens a new tab.
- Live search results announced to screen readers as you type.
Known limitations
- Third-party advertising served by Google AdSense is outside our control and may not meet Level AA.
- Our review has been a manual audit of the site's own markup, styles, and behaviour. It has not been verified with assistive technology in real use, and no independent accessibility audit has been carried out.
- Product images come from manufacturers and retailers. Their alternative text describes the product, not fine detail visible in the photograph.
Report a barrier
Email theshakedowntech@gmail.com with the page URL, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology and browser you were using. We aim to respond within five business days and will provide the content in an alternative format on request.
