We also treat vendor security history as a ranking factor. Both Wyze and eufy have had genuine, documented incidents involving customer video. Neither is disqualifying, and both remain excellent hardware, but you should know before you mount one facing your front door.

If you want cameras that cost nothing to run, buy the eufy SoloCam S340 for outside and the Tapo C120 for inside. If you want the best detection and don’t mind paying Google, buy the Nest Cam. If you want the most proven, least surprising option and are fine with a subscription, buy Ring — and buy several, because that app is the one that actually makes multiple cameras pleasant to manage.
