The pattern that keeps showing up: a general assistant for the varied daily work, a second one for the writing or analysis that has to be right, and a research tool when the answer has to be defensible. That stack runs about $40–60 a month and reviewers consistently rate it far above any single-tool setup.
How we pick

Start with the free tiers of ChatGPT and Claude and use both for a week on real work. Most people find the split obvious very quickly — one of them will fit how you think better than the other, and that preference matters more than any benchmark.
Add Perplexity if your work involves research that other people rely on. Add Otter.ai only if you are genuinely losing information in meetings — it is the most situational tool here and also the one with the largest payoff when it fits. And don’t pay for Notion AI unless your company is already all-in on Notion; outside that context it is strictly worse than the alternatives.
